Mediation Coles Notes
Our course is for you if you have already separated, you have the discipline to dedicate an hour or two each week to work on the course to completion; you want to keep lawyers out of your day to day discussions with your ex; you have the courage to be honest with yourself; you are committed to resolving things fairly; you are open to considering your ex's point of view; you want things done on your timeline.
This course is NOT for you if you're intent on extending your divorce for as long as possible; you're not willing to be flexible in your thinking; you're not ready to stop fighting with your ex, you're not able to commit time to work on the course; you're not able to communicate with your ex yourself.
It does not include a template. We strongly recommend that you hire a lawyer to draft an agreement for you once you reach an agreement on the terms. Unfortunately templates cause more problems than they solve and can lead to further legal problems.
At Alinea Legal Coaching, we offer a flat fee drafting package. We keep our prices low by offering only the drafting and independent legal advice in the package (and nothing else). You've already completed all the other work by doing this course. You can check out our website and prices at: www.legalcoach.ca Contact us at: 778-977-6551 or [email protected]
Most lawyers will offer the option to draft a separation agreement for clients. You will want to ask the lawyer if the cost of drafting the agreement is a flat fee, estimate, or an hourly rate.
